This monograph examines the grand strategy pursued by Brazil under President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva over nearly eight years in office. It explores how Brazil aimed to transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world order more favorable to its interests. The study highlights three diplomatic strategies employed: soft balancing against the United States, coalition-building to enhance negotiation power, and positioning Brazil as a leader in South America. While these strategies elevated Brazil's international profile and diplomatic flexibility, they also introduced strategic dilemmas related to economic performance, regional leadership challenges, and potential tensions with the United States.
